Fucidin (Fusidic Acid)
Fucidin Information
Fucidin’s main component is fusidic acid. Fucidic acid is a substance that is used in treating bacterial infections.
Fucidin Indications
Fucidin is used primarily to treat bacterial infections. It does not work for the following:
Colds Flu Other viral infections Fucidin may also be used for purposes other than those indicated here.
Fucidin Warnings
Fucidin should not be taken if you have any known previous allergies to its main component, which is fusidic acid or to other substances that may be used in this drug such as dyes, preservatives and others. It is unknown whether Fucidin affects an unborn child or not. Do not take Fucidin without your doctor’s permission if you are pregnant or could be pregnant during treatment. It is also unknown whether Fucidin passes into breast milk or not. Do not take Fucidin without your doctor’s consent if you are nursing a baby.
Do not take Fucidin if you have kidney disease for fusidic acid may worsen kidney failure.
Fucidin Intake Guidelines
Fucidin should be taken in exactly as described by your doctor. If there are matters that you do not understand, refer to your doctor, nurse or a pharmacist and ask him or her to explain those matters to you.
Fucidin may be available in oral or inject able form.
Make sure to follow all of your doctor’s instructions when taking this drug.
Store Fucidin at room temperature and away from moisture and heat.
Fucidin Dosage
Dosage of Fucidin should be obtained from your doctor. Dosage may vary from person to person with regards to a variety of factors, which include severity of the condition, age and others.
Do not take in more or less of Fucidin so as not to alter its affects and to prevent overdose.
Fucidin Overdose
Symptoms of overdose of Fucidin are unknown. Seek immediate medical attention, however, if you suspect Fucidin overdose or if you have taken in more of Fucidin than you should. Inform your doctor afterwards.
Fucidin Missed Dose
Doses of Fucidin should not be missed. If as dose is missed, however, take it as soon as remembered. If it is within two hours of the next dose of Fucidin, skip the missed one and take the subsequent dose according to your normal dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose of Fucidin unless otherwise directed by your doctor.
Inform your doctor if you miss taking a dose of Fucidin.
Fucidin Side Effects
Fucidin may have any of the following serious side effects:
Unusual tiredness or weakness Yellowing of the eyes or skin also known as jaundice If you experience any of these, discontinue use of Fucidin and inform your doctor.
Fucidin may also have less serious side effects that are more likely to occur. They may include the following:
Loss of appetite Nausea or vomiting Abdominal or stomach pain Increase in bowel movement Loose stools If you experience any of these, continue using the product but inform your doctor immediately.
Other side effects may also occur when you take Fucidin. Inform your doctor if you experience anything unusual while or after taking Fucidin.
Fucidin Drug Reactions
Fucidin may interact with the following drugs:
Lincomycin Rifampin Amino acid solution Whole blood products Other drugs may also interact with Fucidin. Inform your doctor if you are taking any medications other than Fucidin including over the counter prescriptions such as vitamins, minerals or even herbal products. |
